Growing up in the South, pepper jelly with cream cheese and crackers was definitely a thing – you’d undoubtedly find it somewhere on the table at any holiday party, church picnic, or family reunion. But of course it was loaded with refined sugar and artificial coloring to make it thick and *bright* green so when I found myself with a surplus of peppers this summer I decided to whip up a healthy, honey sweetened alternative to the stuff I knew in my childhood! Not only is it a fun throwback, but canning them was a great way for me to use all the peppers I had without any of them going bad!

If you guys know me, then you know I have a huge sweet tooth, so sweet and savory dishes are totally my jam! And this recipe totally knocks it out of the park.
Ignore the fact that it looks like a lot of instructions because I promise you, this recipe is super easy to make! Plus, there’s are ZERO ingredients that you’ll be unsure about and have to search 3 different health food stores to find. (Seriously, when that happens, just hop on Amazon and you’ll find it in 10 seconds flat!) You probably have half the ingredients already, and the other half can be found at any local grocery store!

Seriously, the holiday season just isn’t complete without with a cookie jar filled with festive cut-out sugar cookies. Cookie Santas, candy canes, reindeer—you’ve got to have them! But the traditional sugar cookie recipe isn’t quite “paleo friendly,” so I had to have a little bit fun and experiment with making my own.

Many people take supplements and they don’t even know why they’re taking them! Typically, when I ask people why they started taking a certain supplement, I get 1 of 3 reasons:

I literally had 3 conversations with 3 individual people and they all said the same thing… they came to paleo thinking that they’d change their diet and all of a sudden they’d just lose a bunch of weight! People have this impression that when they start a paleo diet they’re going to be able to lose weight more easily, right? Well, the answer is kind of yes and no.

It’s that time of year again—pumpkin season! Who else loves this time of year?! Fall foods (especially the desserts) are all so delicious, but typically not very paleo-friendly. (BOO!) So of course, I had to make my own paleo twist on this Thanksgiving staple: pumpkin pie!
When you’re beginning a paleo diet, one of the harder things to give up is pasta… uhm, no more mac & cheese?! Seriously, who doesn’t love mac & cheese? But there are so many paleo-friendly pasta alternatives.
You’ve got the infamous zoodles (zucchini noodles) that you’ve probably heard about. But you can also use other things like cucumber, beets, sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots—you can spiralize so many different foods. And then, of course, there’s spaghetti squash!
I’ll admit, sometimes these paleo “noodles” can take a bit of getting used to, but I promise you’ll get there! And you know what helps? Topping it off with a DELICIOUS sauce! Like this paleo-friendly alfredo sauce. Seriously, this masterpiece can make any pasta dish crave-worthy!
In my Paleo Sweets Cookbook, a lot of the recipes use a combination of different flours including almond flour, arrowroot starch, and coconut flour. And one of the biggest questions that I get from people about those recipes is “what is a good substitute for almond flour?”
This is a consideration for myself as well because, after I wrote the cookbook I discovered that I was sensitive to almonds!
As I was creating the cookbook and testing out the recipes (aka eating lots of cake, cookies, and brownies) I was wondering why I was feeling so terrible all the time. Surprisingly, no, it wasn’t because I was eating too many sweets—it was simply because I was eating too much almond flour! Who knew?! I was thankful that I discovered the cause, but then I had to start finding substitutes for almond flour in all my recipes!
