How do I know? I used to be in your shoes...

Hi! I’m Kelsey Ale.

Back when I was 14 years old, I became a vegetarian for three reasons:

1. I learned how conventional meat is “produced” and didn’t love it
2. I thought being a vegeterian was cool and wanted to rebel against my parents
3. I thought that vegetarianism was the key to lifelong health, free from illness 

If you had asked me back then, “How do I get healthy?” I could give you an entire lecture on the every health benefit of going vegetarian. It was actually pretty impressive for a snarky teenager.

But there was one problem… I was sick. Really, really sick.

I experienced severe digestive problems, including bloating, diarrhea, and extremely stinky gas (not fun ever, but especially when you’re in your early 20’s). My skin was irritated, and I felt constantly fatigued and mentally foggy.

Doctors couldn’t answer my questions. Lab results came back normal. I tried everything, but it only led to dead ends. And I’d always end up right where I started.

So after years of frustration, no answers, and no improvement in my well-being… I finally landed on a solution that worked for me. 

I ate chicken. 

I vividly remember that first bite I took after nearly 12 years of not eating meat. As soon as I ate it, a power switch flipped on inside my body. 

Suddenly, I had energy and mental clarity that I hadn’t experienced in years. 

I felt awake, alert, and alive in a way I hadn’t realized I was missing. 

It was as if my body had been operating on low power, and now it was fully charged.

And it dawned on me…

After years of frustration and pain, I finally found out what my body had been telling me the whole time. 

I just hadn’t been listening! 

Since then, I’ve been a certified nutritional therapist and functional nutrition specialist, a pilates instructor, a medical massage therapist, a bestselling cookbook author, and a personal trainer. Just because something doesn’t work, doesn’t mean it’s a failure. You’ve learned what doesn’t work for you, and that will bring you closer to what does.
