This decadent hot chocolate mix is a much better choice than traditional store-bought packets – it’s dairy-free and sweetened with coconut sugar instead of refined sugar. This homemade mix is also a great gift idea! You can portion it into a mason jar and pair it with a cute mug and measuring spoon for a thoughtful homemade treat 🙂
Paleo Hot Chocolate Mix – yields 4 cups of mix, about 16 servings
1 cup cacao powder
1 cup coconut sugar
2 Tbsp arrowroot starch
4 packets powdered stevia
½ tsp vanilla powder
¼ tsp sea salt
6 oz baker’s chocolate, roughly chopped
Method
Combine all ingredients in a food processor and process until a uniform powder forms. Store in an airtight container in the fridge up to 2 months.
To prepare one cup of hot chocolate:
- Heat one cup of water or dairy-free milk (almond or coconut milk are my favorites) over medium heat on the stove.
- Whisk in 3 tablespoons of hot chocolate mix, and continue to whisk 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
